My blog throughout the year!(9/28)- Hi! My name is David Johnson, and this website will be my way of sharing the experience throughout the year in my Food and Nutrition class. This first entry will be about myself and what I enjoy in my personal life. I love the outdoors and exploring it; some of my favorite things to do in the outdoors is hiking, kayaking, and exploring off-trail. A very interesting thing about me is I am vegetarian have been since February 2015! So beware all meat lovers, this site will be meat free! I look forward to this upcoming year and sharing it! More entries are soon to come.
(11/1)- Earlier this week, we had a Halloween party with two different types of haystacks, popcorn balls, pigs in a blanket, and 7-layer bean dip. I made one of the haystacks, and they were very delicious! If you would like to try to make these and eat them yourself; I have the recipe in my recipes page. The recipe is quick, easy, and under $10 as well. Making the haystacks with my group was a fun experience, and our Halloween party was better because of them.
(11/16)- The other day, we were put into groups to make treats for the teachers at our school. I was in the Vanishing Oatmeal Cookies group. These cookies , like the recipe above, are also under $10. Emily was in that group too and she bullied me:(. The cookies were amazing and the teachers loved them! If you would like to try to make these cookies, I have the recipe we used hyperlinked in my recipes section.
(12/13)- Last week my class made Christmas Cookies for a whole week! My group of cookie makers included Seanna, Emily, and myself. We made Snickerdoodles, Sugar Cookies, Peanut Butter Oatmeal, and Coconut Macaroons. We sold them to our school because we are hustlers baby. I believe our class did very well and everybody in the school liked them a lot, especially my Algebra teacher!(3/6)- Our new unit in Food and Nutrition class is Vegetables. That obviously makes me super excited. Unfortunately, I have not been in class that much lately due to tests. Next week we are making dips and I'm super excited about that. I will be sure to update you guys soon on how the dips go!
(4/8)- Today we did a pizza competition! Unfortunately, we lost because our pizza was four feet thick. Although we had a four foot thick, raw pizza, we still came in third place! I do not know how we came in third place because the people that beat us had a burnt pizza. That is all for now and next time we will be making bread!
Our Raw Pizza! (4/10)- Today we made bread for all of our custodial/ cafeteria staff! Of course our bread was the best, and it rose the most. Our bread met all the good requirements while no one else's did. My group had Danielle, Annie, and I. Whichever staff member got our bread was definitely the luckiest. This is all for now, and I plan on seeing you guys soon!
